The Guinness is merely a wet medium which temporarily does make the flutes
sound better (swelling the wood and making things seal better, I think I read.
At least with older style tin whistles that have a wood fipple) However you
can guess the long term effect of alcohol on wood. Dries it out. But... I
think in some cases, a temporary fix on an inexpensive instrument for a
night's worth of entertainment is well worth it. :)
