If you're anywhere near New York you can steal these things and leave a
tip. Perry Ritter, the repairman on West 55th, has a 1956-vintage Centered
Tone in A for $600. Nobody in New York, he told me, wants Selmers: this is
still a Buffet town. I'd buy it, but I'm looking at his bass, an old but
in great shape Bundy, for the same price.

Let it come, as it will, and don't
be afraid. God does not leave us
comfortless, so let evening come.
