Hi Dave,

I use to play on a Selmer CT. Bought it slightly used when I was in my
first year of high school. That was in 1956. Played it all through
college, and was solo chair in the band for two of those years.

The CT is a very large bored instrument. I think, almost 15 mm. This is
large by today's standards. I believe that the only horn that comes
close is the Pete Fountain Leblanc.

Large bore instruments have their own tuning problems. See elsewhere in
Sneezy for other's comments on such acoustical matters. Large bore
clarinets are very flexible, have a strong third register and can be
played very loud. The quality of tone, contrary to the label "center or
centered tone" is quite the opposite. The tone really spreads when
played loudly.

Frankly, I still wished I had mine. These instruments make great jazz
and dixieland horns.
