When students ask me what I use mine for, it is exactly for that reason. I
keep it in my reed case at symphony rehearsals.....sometimes the weather or
the reed decides to change, and I am never in a bind with the Legere.

Smoother than cane? I have not found this to be the case.

This clarifies.....and I think I know what Janet means when she says
smoother response.
