Sounds brilliant. Congratulations!

This problem came up for bassethorns and basset clarinets too. I
personally find that sitting down and playing the instruments like a
normal and small-sized classical cello, holding the bell in legs crossed
at (respectively) calf and ankle (I have a straight bassethorn by Uebel)
works very well.

You might have thought it would muffle the basset notes, but it doesn't.
And it's good for me, because I don't like slings.
