Sara, you might try visualizing yourself playing very well, with everyone
around you smiling, and nodding approval, including your band director. Try
to concentrate on this image in extreme detail, including the sights
(clothing, colors, scenery), smells (indoors, outdoors), sounds (the music
itself, any other sounds), touch (how your clarinet feels in your hands), etc.
If you can really get into this, and do it many times a day for a couple of
weeks or more, you may find that it helps you. Many Olympic hopefuls use
similar techniques -- as do people conquering stage fright, fear of flying,
etc. It might be worth a try.

Most importantly, whatever works for you is what you should do. I agree with
some of the others who suggested private instruction. Even one or two lessons
can help you immeasurably if finances are a consideration.
We're all rooting for you!
