That's what I totally disagree with. I have no problems with exceptions
to auditions/tryouts for special reasons (I have a sister who has
special needs, and I know that exceptions were made when she sang in a
high school chorus), I have a problem with it being the norm.

Being denied a seat because you're a poor player should do one of three
things:

1) You work harder so you _can_ get a seat.
2) You switch instruments; possibly you're not suited for the one you're
trying.
3) You drop out because you don't want to struggle with the pressure of
practice & playing

Then again, I've never been told I was politically correct ...
