Take the energy you generate being angry and channel it productively in
practicing. (I CLEAN when I'm mad. However since I've learned tolerance
my housework has suffered! ;-)
Ask your section leader to help or to assign someone to help you.
Practice with other clarinetists on your free time away from band - this
is very important - practising away from rehearsal.
Try not to take your director's comments personally. He may have been
thinking students in general and you happened to be in front of his face
and got the brunt. Try to feel pity for a teacher who doesn't have
enough command of the language to express himself without derogatory
language. And DON'T take it to heart. Store any praise you hear for
future relishing when you are feeling most down.
Here's a silly idea - hang a picture of the director where you'll see it
often and paste on text balloons where he's saying what you think you'd
like to hear.
Once again, good luck!
Paulette
