Tut, tut! Leave it on the stand?!?!?! (Gasp!, choke ....!)

No, but seriously, you will get problems with the cork. I've more often had sax
pupils bring a rental where the mouthpiece had been left for a longer time on the
neck. The cork was pretty mashed so that the sax tuned too sharp. At least pull
the mouthpiece back a bit. Probably you would have thought of that anyway....

By the way, I recently saw the studio of a colleage of mine, Wolfgang Smith, who
lives near here. He had a whole array of instruments all standing on their stands
(in front of the heating which was directly in front of the window ) He claims to
have no problems (and he plays really well). Of course, there were water
reservoirs on the radiator and near by was a huge humidifying machine. On top of
that, there were walls filled with music, reeds, equipment, etc. The display was
*very* impressive.....and all on stands......

I really *enjoy* practising the sax as a change to the clar. I selected a
mouthpiece to be not more different from a clarinet mouthpiece than neccessary.
(very old Selmer table B). But I don't get around to it much.....
