LOL!! <---now that we all know what it means! And yes, I was beginning to
wonder what was "wrong." :)

For the record I must admit that I've been considering leaving my sax on a
stand... I don't like practicing it and just putting it together is enough of
an excuse to not do it. So I can see the appeal. The sax is metal, though.
It's mostly the wood of the clarinets that I'm concerned about -the fast
drying and cooling on the peg rather then slow cooling in a humidfied case. I
know many clarinets will never crack if left out, but I like to play it safe.

In addition to what I've posted earlier, I think I also see it as a respect
thing. Even plastic clarinets are expensive and in this area, repairs are
expensive. I hate to see them get left out and in danger of damage. Again,
I'm talking mostly about younger people. Adults (who pay for their own
repairs) know what they've got and take care of it. Often kids don't realize
how easily a horn can get damaged, and that repairs have to be paid for and
take time. Taking the time to put it away, in some small way, I think helps
them start to respect their instrument. I dunno.

Teri.
