The "Flower Clock" is a work for OBOE solo with orchestra.
Francaix did not intend for the concerto to be performable with
piano, otherwise he wouldn't have provided the 3-4 stave "piano" part. It
is obviously a study score so that one can hear all the different lines.
When I auditioned using the piece, I
took a pencil and x-ed out all the "non-essential" notes so that a pianist
could manage. It was STILL a monster part and I am very lucky that I had a
monster pianist.
