Well, I don't consider myself slothful and I'm glad I'm not your student.
Sometimes I may only have a few 10 minute chunks of time to play. Taking
my clarinet apart & putting it together would take 4 minutes total out
of each chunk.

I _do_ swab it out and take the barrel and mouthpiece off and dry them
out. If I couldn't leave them assembled, ready to play I wouldn't play
as often.

Now, I've been to the homes of a number of good players. At least half
of them have their clarinets assembled on pegs (with theexception of
barrel and mouthpiece).

Maybe you intended this just for the "kiddies", but it sure isn't clear in your
post.
