Tell me! This is why I leave my flute and my alto, tenor, and
soprano saxes on the stands (not the clarinet--explanation to
come). I also (oh, heresy!) leave my reeds on the mouthpiece,
for the exact same reason.

I have noticed no adverse affect on pads or reeds or finish (I
do keep a silver cloth over the flute). As a matter of fact, my
reeds last almost forever. My ligatures (Rovner) may wear out
faster, I don't know (well, they haven't yet, and all are at
least seven years old....), but if they do it is a price I'm
willing to pay...

Odd though it may seem, I put my clarinet in the case! I can't
shake my early training, I guess (clarinet was my childhood
instrument.. :-> )
