That exact experience, I have witnessed myself through my friend's invention:
Resonance Spectral Tuning. I wrote a message about it on 27 September 1998 and
won't repeat myself here - even though I didn't stir up the discussion
(controversy?) I was hoping for. In fact no one even commented on it, not even
Mr. Kloc who might have been in a position to have heard about Mr. Goerg
Ignatius through the patent conflict with Buffet. (Buffet was denied a patent
because of Georg's previous patent.) I'll only say here that Georg's
impovements to my clarinets are as valuable to me as the double lip embouchure
is. For me, that's a strong argument!

But I would like to tell anyone who is involved with improving instruments what
a violin maker told my friend. After careful study and trying out of the
improved instrument, this man told him, "Herr Ignatius, you must take into
consideration that with this, I am now your enemy. Other violin makers are your
enemies. Even violinists are your enemies." That was a wise man.

I helped Georg make some contacts with clarinettists and clarinet
manufacturers. The same pattern occured again and again. They show great
interest, invite him to the factory. (I've been as a demonstrator as well) They
send him whole instruments or instruments without keys or parts of instruments
for the adjustments. And then, it suddenly stops.

Georg has a Schreiber clarinet which he did and which he managed to get back
again for demonstrating purposes after Schreiber went off the air. He has
several Mollenhauer recorders. Buffet still has a barrell which he did for
them. Eddy Vanoosthuyse (Leblanc - Europe) has asked Georg to do some barrels
but ... They haven't responded.

Of course, it *could* be a worthless fluke. But I am very happy with the
improvements.
