Yes, it sure can be. Adjustments and reseating are always the order of the
day. New instruments can change dramatically as they work in. I am trying
a new Buffet 1193-2 bass and have had it in 3 times for adjustments while
it is settling in.

For me cork is a nice feel and I feel confident that the cork seals better
and longer than other pads. Clarity, I don't know. Positive feel (for
me), yes.
