Just a quick comment from an obeservational standpoint - our saxophone
professor, William West (studied with Donald Sinta) purchased a new (at
the time a few years ago) Super Action Selmer, Series 2 - and really loves
it. He had tried (with me present) several of the Yamaha Custom and
others in the line - and pointed out many different problems with the
evenness, etc of the sound - none of which I can remember at this point.
However, I heard everything he pointed out - and, subsequently, when
students visited our school to audition or even arrived with a Yamaha
Custom, it was so interesting to hear those similar problems in their
playing - without ever having studied at our school!
