Neil,
I did not want to make an absolute statement. I should have written
'for me', as I made exactly the experience that without the
possibility of performance, I lost interest in practising for many
years. This does not mean that I only practise for the performance.
Practising is for example a way to relax at the end of a day
full of work. On the other hand, I cannot _only_ practise without
performance. This does not mean that everybody has to feel the same
way, of course.
