Sorry but I have a double aversion to lending basset horns to someone
who bacame a swami and then gave it all up again to become what he
was before he became a swami. It shows a certain level of theological
uncertainty.

Allen and I once did the Gran Partitta at the Library of Congress,
during which performance, the Mozart manuscript was laid out (under
glass, of course) for people to come and look at before and after
the performance. It was 10 feet away from where we were playing and
it was a magic evening. Whoever is the bassoonist with the NY
wind quintet conducted. Allen was not a swami at that time and since
it was before swamidom, he was permitted to use my other basse horn.

Do all swamis carry a ten foot staff or was it because, in Manhattan,
you never know who will attack you?
