Feel free to ask whatever you need concerning that.

Thankyou! I will need all the help I can get!

>My first advice is to do it very gradually. Your upper lip has no
strength at all right now, and will tire very quickly. Play for five
minutes at a time, starting with just five minutes a day. After a week
or so, start increasing the amount you play each day, but still don't do
more than five minutes a "session". Take long breaks in between.

I know this might sound like a dumb question, but the five minutes a day
thing, means doing double lip for five min...and thats all the
practicing I do for the day? for the first week or so? That seems really
little....i can understand though. That means once I start no more
single lip right?

>Even as everything develops and your lip toughens up, still continue to
practice in five minute intervals. The best way to do it is five
minutes on, five minutes off. (Even better is two and two, but my brain
can't handle that at all.) After many years, I tend to do ten and ten.
The important thing is to have as much "off" time as "on" time.

I understand that...but how does one build up stamina? How would I be
able to play in an hour or so rehersal?

>Work closely with your doctor throughout this process. I would
recommend also finding an established double lip player to take lessons
from, to make sure you're using everything correctly and not fatiguing
anything in there.

Unfortunatly...i have no clue where to find one...and i don't really
want to leave my current teacher becuase he has been so great for me.

And one last question, while I'm starting this, what should I
concentrate on practicing the most? Long tones? or something else?
Thanks for all your insight Terri!
