Klarinet Archive - Posting 000784.txt from 1999/01

I have a Buffet A clarinet with the wraparound ("swan") register key
(from around 1914, so it's pretty old), and there is no tube at all in
the bore; however, the pad rests on a short, fat tube that is entirely
external, on the "dorsal" (top) side of the upper joint. So it is
incorrect to assume that "swan-" keyed clarinets also all have an
internal speaker tube, as someone suggested.
