I had the same questions a few months ago when I purchased my new 1193-2
Buffet Bass. I got three answers.
The shopkeeper said, play it for 5 minutes the first day , let it settle and
play it for 10 minutes the next day. Increase the time of playing with 5
minutes each day.
Lisa Argiris from Int'l Musical Suppliers told that her policy for bass
clarinets was: play it for one half hour and after that let it settle for
one half hour. You can repeat this as many times as you want. In this case
theoretically you could play the instrument for 12 hours one the first day.
You should keep this up for to ore three weeks.
A third advise from a professional clarinet player and conductor was: play
the instrument as much as possible from the first minute, but be sure to dry
the instrument when you put it in the case. Weak spots will show themselves
immediately and you are sure to have guaranty and free replacement (guaranty
in Holland is one year).

B.t.w. what is brannennizing, and how could this prevent cracking?
