Subj: [kl] Pad material and sound

I recently did a repad with Goretex pads (lower joint) and cannot seem to
detect a huge - if any -difference in sound. Does the pad material really
matter? Have any repair people on the list experimented in using many
different types of pads? If so, what were/are your opinions on Goretex,
leather, skin, rubber, etc. pads.

I've noticed that the Lebanc Opus uses metal tone boosters on the lower pads.
Is this done to "brighten" the sound...........Mr. Ridenour?
