In one sense, Lelia, I couldn't agree more, especially having lost the
_only_ classical music station in Detroit last year to rock music; a
genre already over-represented on the airwaves IMNSHO. The classical
station was making money, but rock made more.

But, the profit motive rides high for most shareholders. So, in order to
make my voice heard, I bought a few shares of the station holder's
stock, I have written the corporation, petitioned the FCC, and I will be
there when the station tries to renew its license. So far, to no avail,
but there's a pretty vocal minority here in Detroit working towards
getting some sort of classical station back. The same thing may work for
jazz in your location, or at least a reasonable compromise may be made
since you already have a station (and I don't mean playing progressive
jazz and classic jazz at 2:00 AM Monday morning :^)
