If you suck instead of blowing, the pads won't lift. Or do some of both.
It seems to help identify the leak location sometimes. A leak light will
usually work BETTER with a bass clarinet than a soprano, due to the use of
leather pads which are much more opaque than bladder pads. Wood vs.
plastic makes no difference. And you're right. Leaks are definitely NOT
charming!
