Mark,
You may be able to give me more info than I can give you! I'll be
playing the show in April, but I probably won't get the music until
March! How many reed books are there? What is your pit instrumentation?
(The group I play with frequently plays with a smaller pit, and it would
help me if I knew what the instrumentation was so I can help lobby to
get the correct parts!)

>This will be my first experience playing in a pit orchestra and
>hopefully will be a good one.

-----> Pit orchestras are my favorite! I hope you enjoy it, too! I
especially like doubling.

>I have played through it a little bit and there
>are a few runs in the clarinet part that will take a little work, and
>maybe a little while to get used to the bass, but nothing major.

-----> One hint (purists, please delete this message now!): I find that
generally the purpose of a run is to give an effect, and they usually go
by so quickly in show music that no one will notice if you play every
note or not! Of course, you should try to play the parts correctly, but
if it is a choice between fumbling notes or producing an effective
"swoosh!", go for the "swoosh!".

>(but no one listens to the exit music anyways. ;-) ).

--------> I listen to the exit music! And you'll find that more people
than you think will stay to listen: these are the most appreciative
people in the audience, because they are staying JUST TO LISTEN TO THE
BAND! Give them a good performance and have fun! Don't panic and have
fun! This is the part where the orchestra gets to show off without all
those silly singers, dancers, and actors getting in the way!

I hope I'll do fine and it'll be lots
>of fun I'm sure. Let's hope they don't overestimate me...

--------> I'm sure you'll do fine! Just remember to have fun!

Good luck!
-Scott
