pointed out, a wind instrument itself does not play in or out of tune!
"Playing in tune" is the process of listening to the pitch we are
producing and learning how to adjust it, preferably BEFORE the sound
comes out of the instrument! Working with a tuner will help you get a
handle on what to listen for and what techniques work for adjusting in
different situations. Eventually, it becomes automatic.
