If you have time in Vienna visit the Museum of Ancient Instruments, a
museum entirely devoted to collections of musical instruments. The
building is a former palace in the city and was not difficult to find.
Sorry
I don't remember the name of the palace. It should be in a listing of
city attractions. A great collection. The best I have every seen.

When the wife and I visited in 1971, some cases housing instruments were
open and a group of visitors were examining the brass instruments. As
we were leaving, we had just started down the circular staircase to the
main floor when the sound of ceremonial trumpets filled the air. The
acoustics in that palace were great. There was a regal feeling as we
went down the stairs. The musical impact of that fanfare in real life,
color and three dimensional, is unforgettable.
