Subj: [kl] Identifying a Schrammelklarinette

Warmest New Year's wishes to the members of this list.

I have recently purchased a curious thing, this is a
Schrammelklarinette, a Viennese piccolo clarinet in high G. It is of
blackwood, with bec, barrel, body and bell. The bec is metal lined.
There are 10 keys of maillechort. The keys have hemispherical heads and
the key rods are mounted in metal sleeves within raised (but not turned)
mounts. The length without bec is 285mm and with bec is 327mm. The
maker's stamp is too worn to read, it is above the top keys and is:

(Hapsburg Eagle)/
Maybe 6 or seven letters; ending in a letter with an up and down stroke/
WIEN/
*

Has anyone any idea who this maker could be? Who can provide the names
of makers of other known Schrammelklarinettes? I looked at the marks
in Langwill, perhaps this is by S. Koch.

Best Wishes for 1999,

Robert Howe
