In many cases, perhaps most cases, this certainly is true. However, for
me it is not true regarding these duets. They are very early works, and
do not even have opus numbers, meaning that they were written before his
Opus #1, before he moved from Bonn to Vienna, and before he met and
interacted with such musicians as Mozart, and before he studied with
Haydn. To me, they sound like what they are: student works. I would try
to avoid playing them in church. In my opinion, they would not do much to
inspire a congregation to contemplate the deeper mysteries.
