The clarinet and bassoon arrangement must differ substantially from the one my
husband's string quartet played, if the bassoonist enjoys it. Sight-reading
the string quartet version, our friend the cellist did his duty and then
announced that he refused to play "the Taco Bell Canon" ever again unless
permitted to improvise an obligatto of groans and snores to his grounded bass
of eight notes repeated again and again, with no variation and no mercy, for
the entire piece.
