What is really annoying is when you're trying to tune a clarinet section
and the drums are pounding away and everyone else is playing the same
note! When I play against a electronically-generated pitch (from a
metronome) it's easy to hear beats and if I'm # or b. But when I tune
with a piano or another clarinet, it's really hard. Is there a reason
for this? Possibly the metronome has a more "pure" pitch? I'd be
interested to know why.
