Sara,
Another thing you can do is to visit the Woodwind and Brasswind web
site and order their catalog. It's a handy thing to have around to get
familiar with equipment options and accessories. Their prices are
fairly competitive. They sell the Hite Premier mouthpiece Anne
mentioned for $18.95.

Personally, I've tried the mouthpieces Roger Garrett is currently
refacing, using Kasper's specifications, and I absolutely love them.
You can contact Roger on this list. He's selling his mouthpieces for
$35. [NOTE to other readers - he's also making Kasper spec mouthpieces
for bass clarinets and another that I can't recall at the moment] I get
no commissions from this, I'm just real pleased with the six mouthpieces
(different facings & different plugs) from Roger I've tried and played
on; enough so to have given two of them to a clarinet playing friend in
Australia for Christmas.
I was started with a Selmer HS* and wouldn't give a wooden nickel for
one again, although a lot of people appear to like them. I've tried a
number of others that I bought used, on ebay. Once I switched to
Roger's mouthpieces, I began experiencing less resistance and getter
fuller tones - at least it seems this way to me.
Good Luck,
Jim
