Sara,
Talk to your teacher or band director- if your mouthpiece is really bad it
doesn't take a fortune to get a feasible one. Fobes and Hite both have
student mouthpieces under $30 that come highly recommended. I played on
the Fobes debut for several months until I made a decision on a
professional mouthpiece (A Fobes!) and it worked quite well. No, Clark
isn't paying me- though I'd accept mouthpieces as payment any time!
There have been a number of conversations on this matter- go to the
archives and try "student mouthpieces" to get other's opinions. Hite and
Fobes both have websites- there is a link from my Index to both, as well as
links to retailers.
