Subj: [kl] Sharp or Flat Troubles! :-(

I can never seen to play in tune. I am either flat or sharp. My band
director says to listen to the note and tune it up. I know for flat to firm
up and/or push in; or if flat, to loosen up and/or pull out. I can't tell by
hearing, so I don't know what to do until I'm told by someone who can tell by
hearing or have a tuner. Does anyone have any suggestions??
