From: "Doug Sears" <dsears@-----.org> Subj: [kl] Gran Partita recordings Date: Tue, 29 Dec 1998 15:48:30 -0500
I was poking around NPR's Performance Today web site
( http://www.npr.org/programs/pt/ )
and found the following in their section of recommended recordings (at
http://www.npr.org/programs/pt/library/index.html )
Program of September 3
Mozart: Serenade No. 10, Gran Partita
Recommended Recordings:
Winds of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra/Sir Colin Davis [with
Serenade No. 12] (RCA 09026-60873-2)
Amadeus Winds/Christopher Hogwood (L'oiseau-Lyre 421 437-2)
Harmonie de l'Orchestre des Champs Élysées/Philippe Herreweghe (Harmonia
Mundi HMC 901570)
Apologies to Dan Leeson for the spelling of "Partita" -- that's how they
spell it, and I don't think English-speakers are ever likely to bring
themselves to spell it "Partitta". Anyway, I'd like to hear people's
opinions of this list -- do you like these choices, can you suggest other
good ones, what about the instruments they use, and so on.
