Assuming there's nothing wrong with the instrument (i.e., you've checked
for leaks, etc.), the G# should be the clarion G# rather than the throat
tone, which would be the normal 2nd partial for the C#. In any event, you
can alter the strength of the partials through tongue and throat position.
If you've ever heard the Australian didj, *most* of the tone variation is
due changes in the tongue and mouth position: the same works for clarinets
(and other wind instruments). Try experimenting with different tongue
positions, and opening the throat more: you should be able to minimize the
partial.
