I hope all of you caught tonight's "La Cenerentola" on the MET broadcast, not
because there were any particularly well-known clarinet solos, except for the
overtures' solos, which are in all the excerpts books, but because of the
absolutely gorgeous playing of Ricardo Morales all night! Also, for once,
the cameraman spent a lot of time on him in the overture--the way it should
be! <g>

We also got the Richard Tucker opera gala yesterday, which also featured Rick
in the aria 'Mon coeur' from Samson and Delilah. I was listening to the mezzo
and reading the paper at the same time, until I heard a ravishingly beautiful
clarinet entrance in the first verse---boy, did my head pop up then!! Of
course, it was Ricardo again. Although I am also a singer and was listening
for the singing, Ricardo was the best thing up there! (Sorry Delora Z.!)

I hope you folks got to hear some of this fantastic clarinet playing.
Elise C.
