Do you have the original recording? Bartok, Szigeti, Goodman? I love that
recording, even though there are much better ones available. I feel that they
really convey the spirit of the piece.

About 20 years ago now (WOW....I'm OLD) I played a recital consisting of the
Contrasts followed by the Clarinet, Violin, Piano version of Histoire. Boy
was
that fun!!!!!!!!!! Loved those days. >>

I adore the Bartok, Szigeti and Goodman recording! I'd picked up the CD in
Tower in Manhatten and I swear it didn't come out of my car CD player for a
three weeks! After listening to that one, any that I've listened to since
seem lackluster to me. (Although very well done.)

We did put in the time (and time and time...) and pulled it together for a
performance earlier this month. We'll be doing it again in April for my grad
recital. I've already started to go back and break down the runs in the first
movement again so that this second performance might not take as many years
off my life as the first one did! (I don't think one could actually *relax*
during a performance of this... :)

I've heard about the Histoire arrangement before with equally good comments.
I think I'd like to get it. Can you dig out your copy and tell me who the
publisher is?

Thanks!
Teri Herel.
