I have played around with the pipes for many years. I keep a set hanging
on my office wall which make for interesting conversatios. You will play
on the chanter for quite sometime before transfering over to the full
pipes. There are a number of good WEB sites on bagpipes and those folks
can recommend a method book. The fingers must stay flat and straight,
with no "clarinet" curved fingers. Just accept the eye to hand
coordination developed on clarinet will be of no use on the pipes. The
fingerings themselves do relate to clarinet either.
