I also just rented this movie--very interesting.

It appeared to me that Woody (Allen, not Herman) had arranged for Buffet
to create not one but 2 brand-new ALBERT-system clarinets. Obviously,
he is a rich man (the private jet was another hint).

The horn he really wanted, though, was a metal one they keep in the
historical instrument display--go figure.

Mr. Allen gets a really interesting "authentic New Orleans" sound, which
(at least from him) seems to also have a good dose of Klezmer. It's not
a tone for any of my students, but seemed to fit (esp. when accompanied
by banjo). :^)
