Bad choice of word, replace afraid, with reluctant.

I had a habit of tightening the throat, and
find my sound better when keeping it "natural".
i.e.: more relaxed. When using vowel sounds I
concentrate on the tongue not the throat
I may ,make an effort with the tongue, but not the throat.
