I am Ed's wife. Maybe (though not necessarily) I can put what Ed was
trying to say in different words that will help you understand.
440 is the absolute A - the one played by such "concert pitch" instruments
as piano, violin, flute, clarinet in C...With a Bb instrument like yours,
the written A is not really an A in concert pitch terms. When playing with
your band or orchestra, notice that other instruments are playing with
different key signatures but it all comes out sounding like the same key -
