My wife tells me to be more clear. If you had a C Clarinet your A would be
440. A Bb clarinet is one whole step below "concert pitch". Your written
and played A is really not an A to the usual C instruments like piano,
violin, flute but a Bb. I hope you're not too confused. Many professional
string players find this very confusing, too. Singers should't be
bothered. It's beyond them.
