I think Elgar was Roman Catholic, which made it difficult for him to be
fully accepted into Victorian Society. My music dictionary says "he ...
became his [father's] assistant organist at St George's R.C. Church,
Worcester.". His masterpiece, "The Dream of Gerontius" is a setting of
a poem by Cardinal Newman, who was himself a convert to Catholicism, I
believe. Sadly you can't count that as a biblical work.
