It is very common for people to use a different mouthpiece for jazz,
especially if they play a very close facing for classical. Relatively open
facings and soft reeds provide the flexibility for note bending and
scooping and vibrato that are pretty much standard in jazz playing. If
your regular mouthpiece is of medium facing, you could probably go both
ways with it, as I do, on clarinet (but do not on sax). The tone enhancers
(in theory) perform the same function as a built-up baffle on a jazz sax
mouthpiece, i.e., increased projection and upper partials, with the
advantage of being cheap and removeable.
