NEVER check a good bass clarinet if you can at all avoid it. Especially if
it's wood.

1. The cold effects the seats you have on your pads.
2. Cold effects the wood of the instrument.
3. Even if you put fragile all over the case, I doubt if the crew would
understand just how fragile it is.
4. Not many manufacturers make cases that would properly protect the key
mechanism.
