How could you ignore the Messiah (Handel) this time of year?

Subject: [kl] bible and music

I am taking a Bible as Literature course. For an individual project, I am
planning on analyzing the Bible's effect on music (from Verdi to Lloyd
Weber). I have a good list of pieces (the names of any truly major would
still be appreciated), but I am lacking in other people's analyses. Are
there any books out there from which I could glean some material? Even if
you can't quite think of the name or author, I would still appreciate
whatever information you could supply.
TIA
-James Rosen
