X by McAllister is a great work. I have both the band score and the piano
reduction and have partially analyzed it for my never ending research inoto
clarinet and band concertos. It is a technical challange with many
passages in the top octave (c4). The piece would dazzle the audience and
yet be quite enjoyable, sort of. It still is mildly dissonant but is one
of the strongest pieces for clarinet and band. DO IT Michael! I can
play it, but the small college band I conduct could not play it! Oh well.

Scott is a clarinetest as well, so the piece is playable!
