I'm glad to hear this--despite all the really awful things people
usually say about Artley clarinets, the few I've played have been
surprisingly good. I recently sold my plastic Artley to finance the
purchase of a wood clarinet, and hated to see the thing go. It was
easy blowing, had very responsive keys and a great, great IN-TUNE
sound. The band director of the child I sold it to was equally
impressed (and surprised) with the quality of the horn. Maybe a lot
of them are lemons, but given my own experience with them, I certainly
won't rule one out with at least playing it to see how it sounds.

>>>In my HS band, one of our best clarinetists plays an Artley, better
than
those with the more expensive Selmers, Buffets, Leblancs... Perhaps that
says something for the performer, but if the player is a beginner (and I
haven't been keeping up with Klarinet discussions, so please correct me
if
I'm wrong that this is a beginner we're talking about) and he or she
puts in
a decent amount of time, they will play well on any horn.<<<
