Hello Donna,
Don't know much about the history of S-1's,
but I do know that mine was purchased in
1975 (Serial #157,000s). It had silver plated keys,
a beautiful sound, and tone holes that were
easier for me to manage. I sold it a couple of
years ago to a non-music major student, who is
still getting great use out of it.
